Costa RicaAndy Seelye
Andy was born and raised in the high central mountains of Costa Rica, growing up in a homesteading lifestyle and living directly off the land without electricity. In the early 2000s, he and his siblings founded Cerro Vueltas Lodge, a private biological reserve, organic farm, and ecolodge perched at 10,000 feet above sea level in the central mountain Cloud Forest. Over the course of two decades, Andy and his family built the lodge by hand using only naturally fallen lumber, which Andy milled himself with an Alaskan sawmill.
Today, the property offers farm-to-table meals, more than 20 kilometers of nature trails, and sweeping high-altitude views of Costa Rica. Andy has taken on many roles throughout the years, including carpenter, nature guide, trail builder, and conservation steward. He is also a certified Wilderness First Aid responder, avid mountain biker, and seasoned adventure guide specializing in cross-country treks.
Deeply rooted in the land, Andy brings a lifetime of sustainability, resilience, and environmental stewardship to every aspect of his work. He lives in Costa Rica with his wife and two children.
